Young Leaders

Once you’re too old for Scouts, then maybe you’ll go on to be an Explorer Scout – you’re also the right age to join us as a Young Leader.

Explorers aren’t run by the Scout groups themselves these days, but at a district level & you’ll need to apply to join.

However, we welcome anyone aged 14-18 to help our leaders run meetings and activities.

You don’t have to be an Explorer (although many choose to be) and most combine this with the volunteering element of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. It’s a fantastic opportunity to add leadership & other skills to your CV and really stand out from the crowd.

As a Young Leader, you’re much closer in age to the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts than the adults, and many will look up to you as a role model. You can help inspire and guide them, encouraging them to have a go. All while having a go yourself.

You’re not expected to join as an expert, there’s a training scheme, so you’ll have the opportunity to learn skills alongside other Young Leaders that you can then put into practice.
