About Us

We are Ashby Hastings Scout Group, first formed in 1908 (as 1st Ashby de la Zouch) and we've been meeting continuously at our site on Wilfred Gardens in Ashby de la Zouch since 1963. We're proud to have given hundreds, if not thousands, of young people from Ashby and the surrounding area the chance to experience all that Scouts has to offer over the decades.

We’re part of a huge worldwide movement of millions of young people and their leaders from nearly every country in the world, as relevant in today’s society now as we ever were.

For children

If you’re aged 4 – 14½ you can join our Squirrel Drey, Beaver Colony, Cub Pack or Scout Troop and take part in weekly meetings, camps, hikes & all the other things we get up to.  Everyone is welcome.

Older teenagers are welcome as Young Leaders, helping the adult leaders plan, organise and run the different sections.

For adults too!

If you’re over 18, then there are many ways you can be part of our team. We know that everyone these days is busy, so we try to be as flexible as we can – whether you want to help out as a leader, be a Trustee or have other skills or interests or a bit of spare time to offer.

Should you think that “weekly meetings” has the potential to sound boring, then think again! We give young people and the leaders the chance to develop #SkillsForLife by having FUN and ADVENTURE. You get the chance to participate in a huge range of activities and games in both small and large groups. This would be a very long page if we listed everything we do! And, as we’re keen to give our young members a chance to voice their opinions, some of these activities are those they suggest themselves…

Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts run at different times and have dedicated adult leaders. The Scout Group is managed & run by the volunteer Trustees under Charity Commission guidelines as well as those of the Scout Association. All the adults are DBS-checked volunteers, undertaking Scout training and willingly giving our time to make Scouts one of the best places to learn new skills, make friends and have amazing adventures.
